You Are More Than Enough (We All Are!)

Updated: Aug 1, 2020

As some of you may know, I recently resigned from my role as the Executive Director of a territory-wide, domestic violence prevention agency and while I am ever grateful for this experience, I've chosen to follow my own path to success - which according to Maya Angelou: 'Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it'. Since then, however, the second most popular question that I have been asked is 'What are you going to do now?' (and the first most popular question is 'why' but let's just say...the answer to this question is more than this newsletter can handle so that'll have to be another discussion for another day!) Now, to be honest...my initial reaction to this question was frustration. After all, is My Girlfriend's Closet not worthy of something 'to do now'? Do I need to teach 40 hours of dance fitness classes every week to be considered someone who is 'doing something now?' and better yet...Am I not the same person behind the title as I am in front of my own vision? In other words, I couldn't understand why my own creative ideas and business concepts weren't viewed as 'enough' and I also couldn't understand why fulfilling my own vision wasn't seen as being 'just as valuable' as fulfilling the vision of someone else. But here's the thing...in reflecting on this internal dialogue - one that COVID-19 has afforded me much time to explore - spirit reminded me of a few things:

*The opinion of me that matters the most, is my own.

*Acting in faith versus in fear requires a response to what is felt - not always seen!

* I am not defined by a title or a job...the title and job will be defined by me!

*I'm not looking for something to do now...I AM the thing to do now!

*I am enough...my ideas are enough and I can't get enough of either!

So, yes...you've gotten a glimpse into my affirmation mantras but beyond that, what I want you to take away from this disclosure is that YOU are enough too! Despite the fears, doubts, feelings of inadequacy or even anxiety that may arise - especially during a pandemic - there are ALWAYS opportunities to grow, discover and play with creativity and innovation. So if you are an existing or aspiring entrepreneur or if you simply want to 'be you, do you, for you', know that within your creativity and purpose lies an abundance of opportunities and no matter the circumstance or opinion, you are enough (and actually...you're more than enough!)
