From Emancipated to Liberated: A Birthday Reflection on Love, Movement & Global Girlfriendism

My 39th Year of Becoming

This birthday feels different.

At 39, I’m not chasing success — I’m choosing liberation.

Each solar return brings me closer to truth: that freedom is not something given; it’s something we embody.

From My Girlfriend’s Closet to H.O.P.E. Inc., from S.O.K.H. Caribbean Dance Fitness to Girlfriendism International, every intuitive venture on my journey has been about helping women see themselves and each other — fully, boldly, unapologetically.

After 14+ years in business, countless pivots towards systemic independence, and a lifetime of learning, I now understand one thing more than ever:

You can be emancipated — and still not liberated.

🔗 Emancipation vs. Liberation

Emancipation frees the body from control.

Liberation frees the soul from captivity.

Emancipation says, “You are allowed to go."

Liberation says, “You are free to become — free to create the life you truly desire.”

Throughout history, people of color — and especially Black women — have celebrated emancipation through legislation, holidays, and rights obtained. Yet many of us still live under invisible chains: fear of failure, scarcity, over-giving, people-pleasing, and the trauma of constantly needing to prove our worth.

We’ve learned how to survive, but not always how to thrive.

That’s why liberation matters. Because liberation is not just an outcome — it’s a lifestyle.

It’s how we show up, how we create, how we love.

💃🏾 The Power of Movement

As a dancer, I’ve always known the power of movement. It has been the language of my life — from childhood dance floors to global stages. But this truth came alive in the last four months and especially during my birthday week.

For years, I told women that when you move your body, movement in your life follows. But during our 5-Day Belly Dance Challenge, I witnessed it. I watched girlfriends take more action in five days than they had in five years — not because they learned new steps, but because they embodied new energy. They experienced what I’ve always known: movement is not entertainment — it’s empowerment.

And this revelation has carried into our Girlfriendism Global Membership, where we continue the journey of embodied transformation.

So many coaching programs focus on mindset or money but neglect the one thing that connects them both — the body which is the temple of our soul. That’s why our membership isn’t just another coaching program for mindset change or business alignment. It’s not just about soul healing or financial growth.

The difference is: Embodiment.

Through dance, manifestation and mindset coaching, and sacred girlfriend circles with sister entrepreneurs, creatives and advocates...we align the soul, body, and mind — the holy trinity of feminine power. Because only when the body is included can transformation last.

💼 14 Years of Evolution & Expansion

Over the last 14 years, I’ve lived through multiple rebirths but in the the last five years - quantum leaps:

  • Starting with a 500 sq. ft. boutique on St. Croix

  • Expanding to nearly 2,000 sq. ft. and multiple locations

  • Navigating through the virtual era of COVID

  • And now evolving into a global digital movement for Love & Liberation

Each transition has been a classroom in creativity, courage, and divine timing.

I’ve learned that entrepreneurship is spiritual. It’s not just about products or profit; it’s about purpose. It’s advocacy. It’s healing.

Because when women who want good for the world have successful businesses, we create a ripple effect of access, equity, and hope. We can hire, donate, and advocate for the communities that nurtured us.

Liberation in business means refusing to shrink when the world shifts — it means evolving anyway.

🎨 The Intersection of Advocacy, Creativity & Wellness

This next chapter of Girlfriendism is guided by three pillars that have shaped my journey:

  1. Entrepreneurship — women entrepreneurs turning passion into purpose and profit.

  2. Creativity — artists, dancers, designers and other creatives using expression as healing - redefining wellness and spirituality in ways that honor culture and community.

  3. Advocacy — leaders, educators, healers, survivors and visionaries using activism as liberation.

Together, these pillars form the heart of our Love & Liberation Movement.

We’re creating spaces where these girlfriends can be soft and strong, spiritual and strategic, sensual and successful — all at once.

Because liberation is not either/or. It’s and/also.

💎 Movement, Momentum & Miracles

On my birthday, the Belly Dance Challenge YouTube performance reminded me and every girlfriend watching — that when women have consistent support, sacred space, and self-belief, they quantum leap. Five days of movement did what five years of dreaming could not. That is the testimony of Girlfriendism.

It’s not just about showing up for class — it’s about showing up for yourself.

When girlfriends move together, we remember who we are. When we heal together, we accelerate our collective liberation.

🌍 Launching a Global Love & Liberation Movement

This month marks the beginning of a new chapter — one that extends beyond borders.

We’re preparing to launch a series of invitations into our global movement for Love & Liberation.

💜 The Girlfriendism Global Pledge

For over a decade, women have come to know Girlfriendism by what they feel. But as we go global, we know there are women who have never experienced that feeling firsthand.

The Global Pledge will define what it truly means to be a girlfriend — a woman committed to love, healing, and liberation.

Taking this pledge will be the sacred act that unites us across continents and cultures. No matter where you live or how you’ve engaged with Girlfriendism, this is your way to say: I am a Girlfriend.

As we enter 2026, we’ll begin the year surrounded by women who have taken the pledge — women who understand that Love & Liberation are both personal and collective (so subscribe to www.girlfriendism.com to stay tuned!).

🌸 The Girlfriendism Global Membership

Our membership is not an 'invite-only' group. It’s a sacred community for women who see the vision and desire to live liberated lives, connect across borders, and embody their highest spiritual, creative, and entrepreneurial selves.

Inside, we dance, we learn, we grow, and we expand — together. It’s a space for women who are not only thinking about their next goal but about the global legacy they will create for generations to come.

💜 Closing Reflection & Gratitude

This 39th year reminds me that liberation is not a milestone — it’s a movement.

And this movement is possible because of the girlfriends who have trusted me, trusted the process, and trusted themselves.

To every girlfriend who has joined the membership, taken a class, shared a post, sponsored an event, or simply whispered a prayer — thank you.

Thank you for believing in Girlfriendism, not just for what it is now, but for what it represents: a vision of a world where women are free to love, create, dance, and thrive. You didn’t just join for me — you joined for you. For your healing. For your expansion. For your liberation.

....And together, we co-create a global movement for a lifestyle grounded in love and collective liberation!
