1. Healing Through Hope & Sisterhood: Our 'Embracing Radical Rest & Self-Care' Retreat

April marked Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and as our nonprofit program, H.O.P.E. Incorporated—the healing and empowerment branch of Girlfriendism and a proud project of the St. Croix Foundation for Community Development—prepares to close out its first federal grant, we celebrated with intention: a weekend retreat rooted in hope and healing.
Held at a private Carambola Golf Course villa overlooking Maroon Ridge, a refuge historically used by enslaved Africans who sought freedom, the location set a sacred tone. According to the Virgin Islands Conservation Society (2024), Maroon Ridge’s steep, forested terrain once offered safety to escapees, becoming a symbol of courage, rest and resistance. That same spirit lived through us that weekend.
Alongside powerful facilitators—Dr. Dayanara Marte, Carlotta Boodie, Lia Magras, Laura Forbes, and myself—we peeled back layers of pain and reclaimed joy. We cried, screamed, laughed, feasted (100% savory plant-based meals, almost converting the carnivores! Big love to Common Sense Plates & Drinks), slept, danced, created, prayed, honored our anceSTARS, shopped women-made goods, and most importantly—we bonded as girlfriends.
Our retreat was more than an event—it was a healing movement. And it matters now more than ever. Did you know that 81% of women have experienced sexual harassment or assault in their lifetime? (National Sexual Violence Resource Center). Safe, healing spaces like this aren't just a luxury—they're a lifeline.
We left transformed—and we’re already planning the next retreat in North Carolina this June. Stay tuned for the details launching next week and come experience the energy firsthand, Girlfriend. You deserve it!

2. From Doubt to Destiny: My Hello Seven Journey

Girlfriend... I did a thing! I signed up for the Hello Seven Mastermind with Rachel Rodgers, Esq. and her phenomenal team—a year-long mentorship for entrepreneurs scaling from $0 to 7 figures.
Truth is, I was hesitant. That little voice in my head? Loud and shady. “You’ve got bills to pay!” But then my higher self showed up like she always does and said, “Girlfriend, you have a global mission. Make the investment, and trust that you’ll see it back tenfold—with impact!” So, I listened. With my mom, my husband, and my girlfriends hyping me up, I took the leap.
Now? I’m officially a Hello Seven MasterMinder! 🙌🏽 After reading We Should All Be Millionaires, listening to the Hello Seven Podcast, and even joining the ROI Millionaire Summit as an ambassador—I’m no longer standing outside the millionaire room. I’m in the room. (Pinch me—and let the church say Amen!) Even better? After doing my income intake, it turns out I’m a Hello Four. That means I’ve already built a six-figure business?! Who knew?! (I didn’t. It sure doesn’t feel like it when the bills roll in. LOL.)
But real talk: only 2% of women-owned businesses ever reach 7 figures (Forbes Inc. Magazine, 2023). And for Black women and other women of color, that number is even smaller. So yes, this is a milestone worth celebrating—and it proves that when we invest in ourselves, we elevate the collective.
Girlfriendism started in 500 sq. ft. on 84 sq. miles of island love—and by 2027, we’re taking it global - connecting girlfriends and creating impact for women around the world. Hello Seven, here we come! 🌍💕

3. Reset, Recharge, Repeat: Living My Why

After weeks of visioning, creating, healing, and building—between our H.O.P.E. Retreat and the Mastermind Retreat in New York—it was time for me to practice what I preach. Over Easter break, I did just that: I took my family camping on the beach (or should I say? They took me camping! LOL).
For four days, we slept under the stars, roasted marshmallows by bonfire, listened to ocean waves, played football (okay, they played, I cheered! LOL), and just lived. I even went live on Facebook to share the moment—because these sacred pauses matter. That stillness reminded me of my why: Why do I push forward in spite of? Why do I want to reach seven figures? Why do I heal my trauma individually and collectively?
Answer: Because I deserve to live the fullest life I can—while I can. And so do you.
According to the American Psychological Association (2022), people who prioritize wellness and joy experience up to 30% higher productivity and emotional resilience. So believe me when I say, this rest isn’t selfish. It’s strategy.

From Island Roots to Global Vision
Girlfriendism is more than a brand—it’s a movement. One built on truth, transformation, and Tribe. And as your SHE-EO, I’m here to say: we are just getting started.
To every woman who’s healing, building, or simply surviving—I see you. I celebrate you. And I invite you to walk with us, grow with us, and dream with us.
Because Girlfriend—your tribe has arrived. 💖
