Carry Me By Sea

Written by: Girlfriend

Kia Griffith

A trench of emotions made my blood rush.

Time ceased to advance.

Waves of tears flooded my face with disbelief.

“Not her!”

Envied that her pain was no more,

Left to endure this shocking day

And each moment thereafter

Without my friend.

The news was too much to bear.

Strength grew each time I saw her name,

Read her words,

Smiled at my favorite photo of her smiling face.

How I miss her warm embrace,

Soft, kind voice,

And lunches near the beach.

You loved the Sea!

Fitting it carried you away,

As passion flows inside each time I visit,

I get lost in you—

Moved to sing to the rhythm of the tide.

Each crash against my body reminds me of your assurances.

I am never alone in this fight.

You tapped out and found your peace.

I push on in life to find mines too.

My sweet friend,

Continue to carry me by Sea.

I am a survivor of suicide loss. If you share this experience, may the fond memories of your loved one(s) lost by suicide continue to carry you as Camile’s carries me. Remember that healing takes time, so be kind to yourself as you do, and seek support as needed.
